Our next adventure

It is a lifetime since our last post, and I feel like a different person. So much has changed since our epic backpacking trip around South America. Our last blog was written in a tiny apartment in Boulder, Colorado; right now I’m writing this sitting in a house that Joel & I own while our baby watches Dora the Explorer from his bouncer. And you know what? I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.

Summers in New Zealand are magical

Summers in New Zealand have been magical

We returned from our trip broke as hell but with the most incredible memories and a rock-solid relationship to boot. Addicted to the freedom we experienced overseas, we refused to go back to employment; instead, both Joel and I started our own companies. Five months after we got back to Auckland, we found out were would be starting a family – a shock, but a welcome one at that. So, we pulled finger and bought our own house; a tiny bach beside the beach, before our son Arlo was born in January of 2016.

Big, bigger...enormous!

Big, bigger…enormous!

While our life is incredibly different to what it was two years ago, our thirst for adventure, new experiences and the open road hasn’t changed. Today we head to Europe for five weeks, with our baby boy. I’ll work remotely, and July is the quietest month of the year for Joel’s business, so we’ll run it on idle while overseas.

Welcome to this new brand new area of our travel blog – Journeys with our bub. Posts themed with photos, stories and reflections from the road with our baby boy.

And just like that, he was here

And, just like that, he was here

Our first family holiday begins in Germany before winding through France, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. We’re spending time with family in southern Spain, and Joel is keen to catch some waves around Portugal’s Algarve. Travelling with a baby is going to have its own set of challenges, and it’s going to be a very different trip to South America!

Isn't that the best passport photo you've ever seen?!

We hope it will be the first of many adventures for our little family.
